CAIRO: A group of Egyptians detained in Libya were released today. Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr said the release of 33 Egyptians was a result of the Foreign Ministry's contacts with Libyan officials. Amr said he appreciated the cooperation and response of the Libyan officials. He said the Foreign Minsitry will continue its efforts to release all Egyptians detained in Libya. Libyan officials handed over the Egyptians to the Egyptian Embassy in Tripoli, said the ministry's official spokeswoman, Mehna Bakhoum. She added that the embassy then transferred them to a hotel in the Libyan capital. She also said that the embassy is preparing travel documents to facilitate the transfer of the released Egyptians back to Egypt over land.
