Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Egypt Ahmed Abdul Aziz Al-Qattan denied reports that the Kingdom is financing Egyptian Salafist operations or drawing down its investments in Egypt. "It is not in the nature of the Saudi leadership to take such rash decisions implied in these allegations, and there is nothing to be gained by spreading instability between the two countries or by driving wedges between the people of Egypt and Saudi Arabia," Al-Qattan said in an interview with Al Arabia News. Such action would lead to sectarian strife in Egypt, and stability in Egypt fosters greater stability in the Saudi Kingdom, Al-Qattan said. “According to these allegations, four billion Saudi Riyals were transferred into Egypt. This is not possible and these rumors are very dangerous to the relations between both countries,” Al-Qattan said.
