Hussein Ibrahim, head of the Freedom and Justice Party in Alexandria, expressed his dismay regarding the violent events which took place in Tahrir Square on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning between a group of citizens and the Central Security Forces. Although seemingly unrelated, the clashes took place a few hours after the issuance of an order from the Administrative Court to dissolve Egypt's local councils. Ibrahim stressed that the party, which is the newly formed political wing of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, does not accept any kind of police violence. Ibrahim called upon the government of Prime Minister Essam Sharaf to give a clear justification for what happened and describe what measures they would take against those responsible, including the police officers. He added that the events in Tahrir Square needed a clear explanation and that remnants of the former regime must stop hiding behind the revolutionary martyrs' cause in order to achieve their own ends. He called for all who took part in the revolution to unite to preserve its achievements.
