CAIRO: President of the National Authority for Tunnels Atta al-Sherbini said construction on the fourth metro line, which is planned to run 24 kilometers from Nasr city through Abassiya to Haram, has been postponed due to recent events in Japan. The project was being funded with a grant from the Japanese government. Al-Sherbini said in press statements that an agreement has been signed between the Ministries of Transport and International Cooperation of both the Egyptian and Japanese governments. The Japanese International Cooperation Authority (JICA) had prepared the plans for the first phase of the line, which would begin on the ring road in front of the Dreamland development, and run to the new Grand Egyptian museum currently under construction.
