CAIRO: Dozens of international chefs gathered at the foot of the pyramids to participate in an international celebration supporting tourism in Egypt. The most famous Egyptian cooks participated in the celebration, headed by chef Osama al-Said. The World Association of Chefs Societies and the Egyptian Chefs Association organized the celebration yesterday. Some tourists participated in the celebration. The chefs started the celebration by cooking some dishes. Then they went to the panorama viewing area at the pyramids to take some photos. This initiative, which was suggested by a number of chefs, is considered an important step to promote tourism after Egypt's January 25 Revolution. The Swedish chef Marcus Eaton, a member of the World Association of Chefs, said that more than 30 countries around the world have participated in this celebration. He added, “We wanted to come to Egypt and the pyramids to ask people all over the world to join us and support tourism in Egypt.” Chef Eaton added that Egypt can face its current crisis, saying “We are proud of the Egyptians following the January Revolution, and we say to them: go forward.“ During the celebration, Chef Osama revealed he is opening a cooking school in September—the first in Egypt and the Arab World.
