ALEXANDRIA, Egypt: A film about ancient Egyptian philosophy is showing at the ‘Life Of Another World' hall at the archaeology museum in the Alexandria Library. The film displays the process of mummification and the court of the dead. The hall of the ‘Life Of Another World' hall is in the museum of archaeology and it displays many monuments, including a group of religious and funerary beliefs antiques of the ancient Egyptian civilization. Other monuments in the hall include an empty coffin of the 26th family from ancient Egypt. The coffin belonged to upper Egyptian ruler “Father, Son of Hur.” The coffin was found in Luxor in 1970. The hall contains another coffin with a mummy from the Greco-Roman era. A mummy from the Roman era is also displayed in the hall. It was found in Minya in 1967. The hall contains a model of a wooden funerary boat, a limestone offering table, some amulets of death, and respondents or Shawabti statues. ‘Life Of Another World' Hall exposes mummification features invented and developed by the ancient Egyptians. The ancient Egyptians used the mummification process to keep the body preserved and undamaged. They believed the soul should recognize the body to return back to life after death. Mummification is considered a funerary rite rather than a medical treatment. It is unknown when it started exactly, but it is proved to have started during the rule of the third family. The mummification area at the museum of archaeology Alexandria Library is the first museum to exist inside a library globally. It contains 1,133 pieces of antiques. It displays pieces from different eras such as the Paranoiac-German era, the Roman-Coptic era and the Islamic eras. Visitors can tour inside the museum guided by a tour guide or with the help of an electronic guide. The electronic guide is a machine developed by the library to enable the visitor wandering in the museum and listen to explanations at the same time.
