Israeli Public Radio The Israel chief of staff: Israel is ready for any potential war The Israeli Army's Chief of Staff, Beni Jants, said the Middle East is witnessing critical changes and the Israeli Army should be prepared for dealing with any threats. He expressed Israel's readiness for any potential wars in the future. Jants sait the army's ability to confront the different challenges came as a result of its main values, its combating heritage, and the performance of its leaders. Yediot Ahronot The Israeli Kenesset: Tel-Aviv and West Jerusalem are threatened by missiles in any future war. The Israeli internal front leadership presented a map of the Israeli areas that could be threatened by missiles in the future wars to the Security and Foreign Committee of the Israel Kenesset. The Israeli newspaper mentioned that Gen. Yanir Golne, the leader of the internal front, discussed the Israeli local authorities' preparations for the emergency states with the mentioned committee. Golne said "Any future war will take a long time and will witness launching an increasing number of accurate long-range missiles." Avi Mishor, an official in the internal front, said that "the offered data are based on intelligence and other authorities' data so the mayors received a scenario to deal with the expected missiles and their effects". In the same context, Shaul Mofaz, the head of Kenesset's Security and Foreign Committee, said that the high-populated centers will be the target of such missiles which would affect the public life". The front's new data highlighted that Jerusalem is threatened by missiles from North and South, while Shmona, Tesfat, Caramel and Hayfa are also threatened by hundreds of missiles in any potential wars. Yediot Ahronot said that the front's leadership expected missiles attacks against Tel-Aviv, Holon and Beersheba, while Eilat will not be a target of such attacks so its population will enjoy security. Maariv Lieberman criticized Egypt, claiming that Chaim has no relation with the Mossal or even the Mars The Israeli Forein Minister, Avigdor Lieberman, strongly criticized Egypt's government for the imprisonment of the "alleged" Israeli spy, Ilan Chaim, claiming that Chaim has no relation with the Israeli Mossad. Marriv quoted him saying that the Egyptian authorities put the first fork in the Egyptian-Israeli relations after the Jan. 25 revolution through imprisoning the Israeli citizen Ilan Chaim. Lieberman considered the Egyptian action as unordinary and deliberated mistake, demanding the Egyptian government to offer clarifications. The Israeli minister said that despite this "strange" story, the dialogue is still opened with the Egyptian officials. Lieberman resumed his declarations saying that "Chaim has no relation with the Israeli Mossad, the U.S Mossad, or any other intelligence service in the world or even in the Mars. He is innocent and not responsible for such claims." He hoped also the end of the story calling for not prosecuting Chaim. He demanded Cairo to brief Israel on the developments of the case. He added that "I think we need to change the current atmosphere between the two countries after raising the issue. We should open a dialogue with Cairo especially after the recent developments that Egypt witnessed recently". He confirmed that Egypt is the most important country in the region for Israel. Haartez The Israeli police prepares for confronting a huge Palestinian demonstration in September. The Israeli police is preparing for confronting a huge Palestinian protest, organized by Palestinians and citizens of 1948 Arabs. The demonstrations aim at supporting the Palestinian authority which will head to the UN to gain the international recognition of the Palestinian state. Haartez revealed that the police forces and boarder guards conducted an extensive training through which they prepared for dealing with the expected huge marches which will be launched from the West Bank. Anew EU initiative to re-launch the negotiations The EU launched a new plan to renew the peace negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians to avoid the political step announced by the Palestinian authority to gain the UN recognition of the Palestinian state in Sep. Haartez mentioned that the EU's Foreign Minister, Catherine Ashton, coordinated with the U.S Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, Russian Foreign Minister, Sergi lavarov, and the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, to call for an urgent meeting for the International Quartet Committee to create a peace initiative that will be based on Obama's recent speech. Haartez said that Ashton sent a message to the mentioned officials in which she signaled to the recent drama witnessed in the Middle East so we need to find an urgent solution for the Israeli Palestinian dispute which hasn't witnessed any progress in the negotiating process recently. The Hebrew newspaper clarified that the EU step is considered an attempt confront the Palestinian plan to seek the international recognition in September and a framework to launch the negotiations again.
