Twenty-four people were injured in riots outside the Israeli Embassy in Giza last night, said Dr. Abdul-Halem Behairi, director of health affairs in Giza. Police forces took control of University Square in Giza after clashes with protesters who gathered in front of the Israeli Embassy last night. Protesters retreated to the main gate of Cairo University and the Sheraton Cairo Hotel, while police intensified their presence in the area through increasing the cars and armored vehicles of the central security in the square. Protesters who rallied in front of Israel's embassy threw stones at security forces and ignited tires in the area, which prompted police forces to fire teargas for two hours to disperse the demonstrators. Fourteen of those injured were transferred to Bulaq Hospital and eight others to the Om el Masryeen Hospital and another two were sent to the Qasr al-Aini Hospital. Most of the cases were either minor injuries or related to tear gas inhalation. Bheiri said all have been placed under observation and those whose conditions are improved and stable have been released. Youm7's ASHRAF AZOOZ and MENA contributed to this report.
