Swiss authorities said they will return frozen assets of former Egyptian officials to Egypt. However, the authorities have requested that the Egyptian authorities prove the assets is has frozen are illegal. Swiss officials expressed their country's readiness to help Egypt. In a press conference held on Wednesday, the Swiss delegation said Egypt's judges should prove the 410 million Swiss francs (U.S. $464 million) of frozen assets are illegal. The Swiss authorities said they will take the necessary measures to restore the money back to Egypt. The Swiss delegation includes officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Administration of Federal Legal Assistance and Basel Institution. It also includes the Swiss Ambassador to Cairo, who visited Egypt for two days to discuss the legal ways to restore smuggled money in Swiss banks.
