Hany Ramzy has been named Lierse manager following the departure of Chris Janssens on Monday. The former Egypt defender has been chosen by club owner Maged Sami after spending two weeks as an unofficial advisor for the Belgian side. Ramzy has been unemployed after automatically leaving his post as Egypt Olympic team manager last summer, following a quarter-final elimination from the London Games. He will face a tough task saving Belgian league strugglers Lierse from relegation as they now lie third from bottom. Coach Janssens, who helped Lierse secure survival last term, has been relieved of his duties following the weekend defeat to close rivals Germinal Beerschot.
