Mohamed Salah played most of the game as Basel succumb to a 2-1 defeat at Hungarian minnows Videoton in the Europa League. Playing for the second time under new manager Murat Yakin, the Swiss champions conceded an early own goal scored by Fabian Schar. Marco Caneira made it two for Videoton before half time as Egypt forward Salah departed in the 57th minute to be replaced by Korean Kwang Ryong Pak. Schar made amends for his own goal with a late consolation that proved too little for Basel. It is Basel's second straight defeat under Yakin, having lost to Luzern in the league. Basel are still winless in Group G with two points, five less than leaders Genk and four less than Videoton.
