Ahli are set to have an extraordinary board meeting in the wake of the events that took place after Tuesday's cup game with Kima Aswan at Cairo Stadium. Following an easy 4-0 win, hundreds of Ahli fans, mostly from the Ultras Ahlawy group, clashed with police forces, who allegedly reacted to offensive chants against the Ministry of Interior. With more than 90 people injured from both sides, a number of Ahli fans were detained and are currently being investigated over the incident. The Cairo club said on their website that chairman Hassan Hamdi requested an extraordinary meeting on Thursday, in attempt to make a ‘swift reaction' to the events. The league champions relished the troops against what they described as ‘hidden hands' intending to blemish the relationship between the fans and the police. It is not the first time that clashes had occurred between fans and police forces in a football match after the January 25 Revolution. Back in July, 18 Zamalek fans were detained following clashes with security men at Cairo Stadium during a league game with Wadi Degla.
