Ahli coach Hossam Al-Badri was unfazed by Mohamed Talaat's wastefulness in the 1-0 home win over Wadi Degla on Thursday, revealed assistant coach Alaa Maihoub. The Cairo giants labored to victory over promoted Degla in a drab Egyptian Premier League affair that saw the inexperienced Talaat spurn a couple of clear-cut opportunities. However, Al-Badri called on the young striker during the match not to lament the wasted chances, according to Maihoub. "Al-Badri told Talaat 'squander as many scoring chances as you want, what matters the most is that we maintain our pressure on the defenders'," Maihoub told Ahli's official site.
Al-Badri under fire "Our display was poor because there was too much space between the lines, and that what the technical staff highlighted in the break. "Sayed Moawad's (calf) injury was definitely a blow, especially that Ahmed Al-Sayed replaced him without warming up. "But after all we won and that's a huge step towards regaining our confidence." Over the past few months, Ahli, who lie eighth in the league table, have been slated for their poor run of form, with coach Hossam Al-Badri having the lion's share of criticism. Al-Badri's future might largely depend on the outcome of the team's anticipated two-legged clash against Tunisian side Esperance in the Champions League semi final next month.
