Bayern Munich will bring back towering striker Luca Toni when his loan spell at Roma ends in the summer, Franz Beckenbauer said. The former Fiorentina ace moved to Roma in the January transfer window on a six-month contract. It's understood that a falling-out with Bayern manager Louis Van Gaal promoted Toni to get back to the Serie A. The 32-year-old is planning to stay at Olimpico beyond his loan spell, while Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko is tipped to join Bayern. But Beckenbauer, the Bavarians' honorary president, stressed that his club wouldn't need to land a new striker as Toni would return to Allianz Arena next season. "Much as I like Dzeko, Bayern do not need another centre-forward," Germany legend Beckenbauer told Bild. "In fact, when Toni returns from his loan spell at Roma, he will be part of the squad again. "The area of the team that needs to be reinforced is the defense. "We concede too many goals and also require a keeper, seeing as Hans-Jorg Butt is not considered the number one choice for our future."
