Mohamed Zidan was on target as Borussia Dortmund crushed second-division side Karlsruhe 3-0 away to reach the last 16 of the German Cup on Tuesday. The Egyptian striker, who fell out of favor with the Pharaohs' coach Hassan Shehata, needed two minutes to open the scoring. Argentinean striker Lucas Barrios doubled the lead midway through the first half before wrapping up the victory with a 51st-minute strike. Zidan, who made Dortmund's staring line-up for the fourth successive match, was replaced with Paraguayan Nelson Valdez on 71 minutes. The 27-year-old's goal is his third in all competitions this season. He scored against fourth-division side Weiden in the cup's preliminary round and also found the net in Dortmund's 1-1 Bundesliga draw with Eintracht Frankfurt last month.
