Manchester City marksman Emmanuel Adebayor says that he doesn't deserve to be handed a ban for his conduct in the Citizens' 4-2 win over Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday. The Togo player, who joined City from the London side this summer, ran along the pitch after scoring the third goal, arguably in an attempt to tease the away spectators. What even stirred more controversy is that he caught Arsenal's Robin van Persie in the face with his boot in the second half, and the latter was badly hurt. Pundits believe that Adebayor should be suspended for his antics, even so, the 25-year-old played down the seriousness of his violent challenge on his former teammate. "I don't know what I have done wrong to get banned," Adebayor told The Sun. "I have not heard the police or FA want to talk to me. The club have not said anything." The 2008 Glo-CAF award winner revealed that he apologized to Van Persie after the final whistle for stamping on his face. But the Dutchman, who later described Adebayor's actions as 'mindless and malicious', didn't accept the apology. "After the game I saw him and said sorry but he didn't even want to speak to me," Adebayor stated. Critics are convinced that Adebayor deliberately struck Holland star Van Persie, and thus calling for his suspension. Silly On the other hand, Adebayor admitted making a mistake by irritatingly running the length of the field while celebrating his goal. The Gunners' fans reacted furiously at the time, and a steward was hit by a hurled object. "It was silly to run up in front of the Arsenal fans. But these people have been insulting me all game," added Adebayor. "Even in the warm-up they were insulting me. They were saying things that are not nice to hear, personal things. "I didn't plan it, not at all. I didn't even know that I would score. The way things were going from the warm-up, at the end it came into my head."
