An Egyptian court forbade current president Samir Zaher to nominate himself for another stint at the helm of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA). In its ruling, the court said Zaher cannot take part in Friday's election due to his criminal record, which includes actual convictions of him in the past. Candidates for the EFA's presidential post should have a 'good reputation', the court said. "Zaher will appeal against the ruling on Thursday," EFA legal adviser Hussein Helmi told FilGoal.com. Should Zaher fail in his appeal, former Ismaili player Osama Khalil, popular commentator Ashraf Shaker and former Zamalek chairman Kamal Darwish would vie for the EFA's presidential seat. Zaher, who was elected as the EFA president in 2005, is widely appreciated for exerting lots of efforts to generate income for Egyptian clubs and national teams. His predecessors did not regard that notion highly. The Egyptian League, which was often branded as 'boring and lackluster', was well used by Zaher and the EFA's current board to generate money. Three years ago, the competition's broadcasting rights were sold to several TV networks for the first time in Egypt's footballing history.
