Petrojet extended Zamalek's winless run in the Egyptian League to three matches after holding them to a goalless draw in Suez on Friday. Zamalek's technical staff changes and squad reshuffle are yet to prove effective as the Cairo giants did not show any signs of improvement. They were even lucky not to concede as Petrojet wasted several clear-cut chances either side of the interval. The draw leaves Zamalek in fourth place of the league table with 18 points, seven behind surprise leaders Petrojet, who are enjoying a great run of form. Isolated Zamalek youngster Ahmed Ibrahim made his first league appearance this season, occupying the left-back berth to fill in for punished duo Ricardo Alves and Osama Hassan. Ghanaian Junior Agogo played as a lone striker. He was supported by attacking midfielders Mahmoud Abdul-Razek 'Shikabala' and Mohamed Abdullah. But it was quite clear that he needed a strike partner as he was isolated upfront. Agogo repeatedly switched to the flanks in order to gather the ball as Petrojet defenders faced no troubles in undermining his threat. However, the former Nottingham Forest man, who was caught by TV cameras making an offensive gesture towards an opponent for no apparent reason, had a chance to break the deadlock after 16 minutes. He latched onto Ahmed Magdi's deft pass inside the area before drilling a low shot that narrowly missed the target.
Shikabala failed to impress Defensive midfielder Magdi tried his luck from distance in the 37th minute but his powerful left-footed shot went just wide of the post. Apart from those two shots, Zamalek's lack of creativity saw them fail to break down Petrojet's defense, with Abdullah and Shikabala failing to impress. It was Petrojet who wasted a glorious opportunity to take the lead three minutes before the break. Zamalek sweeper Hani Saied poorly chested a long ball, allowing Walid Soliman to rob him and go one-on-one with Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed. Keeper Al-Sayed found no difficulty in handling his weak shot though. Petrojet's Dominance The hosts dominated the entire second-half as Zamalek sat back to keep their clean sheet. Petrojet top scorer Alaa Ibrahim almost broke the deadlock five minutes after the restart when he was rose unopposed at the far post to meet a left-wing cross but his header hit the side-netting. Talented wingback Osama Mohamed squandered another chance seven minutes past the hour mark. He tricked Abdullah inside the area but selfishly shot wide instead of feeding the unmarked Ibrahim. Petrojet forward Mahmoud Abdul-Hakim was unlucky to see his fierce drive strike the woodwork six minutes later.
