France defender William Gallas said that eliminating Italy from EURO 2008 would be a 'perfect' way to avenge the 2006 World Cup final defeat to the Azzurri. The Arsenal center-half admitted that players who were present at the fiery game in Berlin can hardly forget what happened, despite an impressive 3-1 qualifying win over the Italians afterwards. Italy's 5-4 shootout win was overshadowed by Zinedine Zidan's infamous red card, following a headbutt to Italy's Marco Materazzi, who admitted to insulting the France legend. "The match against Italy has some ill-feeling attached to it because of the 2006 World Cup," said Gallas. "For many of our guys, that final is still very much with them. To win and to knock out the Italians would be perfect, but it is necessary to play with the head, not just the heart." France and Italy battle in a tough Group C, which also includes Romania and European powerhouses Holland.
