Tottenham Hotspur have won the race to lure 22-year-old Croatia winger Luka Modric from Dinamo Zagreb, the London club confirmed on Saturday. Spurs beat Premiership rivals Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle for the signature of the highly-rated midfielder, who is believed to have signed for around €15.8M. Modric made his Croatia debut against Argentina in March 2006, after which he became one of the pillars of Slaven Bilic's side. The dexterous winger was involved in both of Croatia's Euro 2008 qualifier wins over England, as he caught the eyes of several Premiership clubs. He was also part of Croatia's squad in the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
