Masri midfielder Amr Bassiouni wasted a last-gasp penalty as his side were held to a 1-1 home draw by 10-man Arab Contractors in the Egyptian League on Friday. Contractors were dealt a major blow after 10 minutes when Ghanaian midfielder Samuel Kyere was sent off for a clumsy challenge on Hossam Ashour. However, despite their numerical disadvantage, the visitors managed to stun the home crowd in the 38th minute. Rami Rabie connected with a header across goal to slot into an empty net and give Contractors a surprising lead. Bassiouni leveled the score one minute before the break after converting a penalty. Masri were awarded another spot-kick in stoppage time. Tempers flared afterwards as Contractors coach Alaa Nabil rushed to the pitch to protest the referee's decision. Masri fans brandished insults towards Nabil, who exchanged with them angry words before security men intervened to ease tensions.
Precious draw for Baladeya Bassiouni stepped-up once again but his tame shot was blocked by Mohamed Al-Akabawi. The result put Masri in the 11th place of the league table with 22 points, just three clear of the relegation zone. The Port-Said club are yet to taste a defeat since veteran striker Hossam Hassan took over at the club, winning once and drawing three times. Contractors lie ninth on 25 points. Elsewhere, struggling side Baladeya came from a two-goal down to claim a precious 2-2 draw with Aluminum. An own goal by Yehia Abou-Sheishaa put Aluminum ahead after nine minutes before Karim Abdul-Hakim doubled the advantage in the 23rd minute. Baladeya produced a remarkable comeback in the second period. Hossam Osama pulled one back in the 72nd minute before Ahmed Fahmi claimed the equalizer eight minutes from time. The win lifted Baladeya off the bottom, at least for one day. They are third from bottom on 19 minutes, level with Telecom Egypt and Suez Cement. Telecom Egypt take on runaway leaders Ahli while Suez Cement's game against Zamalek has been postponed due to the latter's Champions League commitment.
