Mohamed Zidan's Hamburg booked their place in the UEFA Cup second round following a goalless home draw with Zurich on Thursday. The German side advanced with a 3-1 aggregate score after their first-leg victory over Zurich in Switzerland. Egyptian forward Zidan did not take part in the game due to a back injury. Elsewhere, Bayern Munich thrashed Aberdeen 5-1 at Allianz Arena to reach the last 16. A brace from Lukas Podolski in addition to goals from Lucio, Daniel van Buyten and Mark van Bommel gave Bayern a 7-3 aggregate success. Bayern will face the winners of Ahmed Hassan's Anderlecht and French side Bordeaux.
