The 20-year-old fired in a superb shot three minutes from the break, after his Barca teammate Gabriel Milito has given Argentina the lead with a 15th minute header. Messi took his tally to nine goals in 11 games for club and country so far this season, as he is on top of the Spanish Primera Liga top scoring charts with six goals. Argentina have six points from two games in the South American qualifiers, while Venezuela have three. Brazil will host Ecuador in Flamengo on Wednesday, Paraguay take on Uruguay, Colombia visit Bolivia, and Chile will meet Peru.
