Zamalek are set to appeal the Egyptian Football Association decision to ban Mahmoud Abdul-Razeq 'Shikabala', a club source said on Friday. The talented winger was hit with a three-match ban as well as an EGP 30,000 fine for making insulting gestures towards Ahli fans in the Cairo derby. Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas phoned Egyptian FA president Samir Zaher to clarify Shikabala's improper attitude, according to the club source, who spoke on condition of anonymity. Abbas said the Egyptian FA should take into their consideration the hostile chants which were directed towards the former PAOK Saloniki man. The official appeal will be presented on Sunday. After the referee blew his whistle in the Cairo derby, Shikabala was caught on camera with his shoe aloft against Ahli's fans, triggering a quarrel on the pitch between players from both sides. He was targeted by a barrage of insults from some thousands of Ahli fans during the second period of Zamalek's 1-0 defeat.
