Egyptian Premier League holders Ahli will start their 2007-2008 campaign against Masri in Port-Saied, while runners-up Zamalek are off to a crunch start against Ismaili in Cairo. The league fixtures for the 2007-2008 season was announced by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) on Wednesday, the FA indicated the dates of the first five weeks and the season's closing dates as well. The opening matchday will be played on August 13th and 14th 2007, the first half of the season will end on December 25th, and the season will close on May 19th 2008. Another significant opening day fixture will feature a confrontation between the newly promoted duo Ettisalat and Aluminum. On the other hand, the EFA decided to play the round of 32 and the last 16 phases of the Egyptian Cup without the national team players, who should be representing Egypt in the 2008 African Nations Cup if the team qualified. The national team will start their 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign with three games in June 2008 after the local season ends. The EFA also decided that all matches during Ramadan will be played at night, giving the teams who have no lighting stadiums a deadline until August 24th to select a venue for their home games.
