Swiss champion Roger Federer advanced to the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon Grand Slam after his German opponent Tommy Haas withdrew due to injury. The 13th-seeded Haas were scheduled to play against Federer on Monday but he suffered from a torn stomach muscle a day before the game and had to pull out. Now the top-seed will face the winner between the 2003 French Open champion Juan Carlos Ferrero or unseeded Janko Tipsarevic for a berth in the semifinals. Wimbledon games have been suspended on Sunday due to rains and the competition is set to resume on Monday.
