Egyptian Football Association (EFA) president Samir Zaher agreed with Saudi Arabian Football Federation vice-president Prince Nawaf Bin Faisal on reviving the Egyptian-Saudi Super Cup. Zaher and Bin Faisal held a joint press conference along with Arab Union Football Association (UAFA) general-secretary Osman Al-Saad in Cairo on Wednesday evening where they decided the event will be re-launched at the end of this season.
The event was held twice in 2001 and 2003 and was divided into two games where the winner of the Egyptian and Saudi Cups contested for President Mubarak's Cup Winners' Super Cup in Riyadh and league winners in both countries contested for King Fahd's League Champions' Super Cup in Cairo. The monetary prize for each game will be SAR 1 million, with the winner receiving 750,000. Each football association will set the date a suitable date for the match that will be held on its soil.
