Manchester United went six points clear at the top of the Premiership after grabbing a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday. James Morrison's strike six minutes past the hour mark cancelled out Louis Saha's opener in the first-half. Darren Fletcher restored the lead for United in the 68th minute to help his side continue their impressive run in the Premiership. The Red Devils are in charge of the table with 41 points while Chelsea, who were rested this weekend, lie second with 35 points. French international Saha grabbed the lead for the visitors in the 19th minute from a controversial penalty after Cristiano Ronaldo was allegedly brought down by Middlesbrough keeper Mark Schwarzer. Substitute Morrison equalized for Boro six minutes past the hour mark when he capitalized on a poor header by Gabriel Heinze to smash a first-timer into the bottom corner of the net from a tight angle. But Scottish midfielder Fletcher sealed the victory for United just two minutes later when he headed home Ryan Giggs neat cross.
