Arsenal broke their Emirates Stadium winning duck when they cruised past Sheffield United 3-0 in their Premiership game on Saturday. William Gallas scored his first goal for the Gunners before Phil Jagielka converted in his own net to double the lead. Captain Thierry Henry steered a rare header home in the closing stages of the match to register his first competitive goal in Arsenal's new home. This is also the first victory for Arsenal on Emirates Stadium in the Premiership since moving from Highbury in the summer. The victory put Arsenal in eighth place of the Premiership table on eight points with one game in hand while Sheffield lie at the bottom with just two points. Arsenal broke the deadlock five minutes past the hour mark when Henry chipped the ball into the area to Cesc Fabregas, who didn't have time to control it as French defender Gallas smashed a left-footed volley into the back of the net.
Lampard The Gunners doubled the lead just four minutes later after Henry's cross was misdirected by Jagielka into his own net. The French international striker sealed the victory ten minutes from time as he connected with Emmanuel Eboue's inch-perfect cross to head home from close range. Elsewhere, Frank Lampard scored a late brace to help English champions Chelsea register a 2-0 away win over Fulham. The England international opened the score from the penalty spot in the 73rd minute after Liam Rosenior, under pressure from Salomon Kalou, handled the ball inside the area. Lampard, who captained Chelsea in the absence of John Terry, ensured the win seven minutes later when he fired a low drive into the bottom corner from the edge of the area after being set-up by Didier Drogba. The win placed Chelsea temporarily on top of the table with 15 points, two ahead of Portsmouth who face Bolton Wanderers on Monday. In other matches, Aston Villa beat Charlton Athletic 2-0, Blackburn Rovers edged Middlesbrough 1-0, Manchester City defeated West Ham 2-0 and Wigan were held to a 1-1 draw by Watford.
