Ahli have been crowned Egyptian Premier League champions after holding Smouha to a goalless draw in the final round of the playoff. The stalemate meant that Ahli ended the four-club mini league on top, only surpassing Smouha on goal difference. The Reds now have 37 titles to their name, with Zamalek their closest rivals on just 11. Ahli were guided to the podium by interim manager Fathi Mabrouk, who is set to be replaced by Spaniard Juan Carlos Garrido despite his success. In the other game of the day, Zamalek eased past Petrojet 2-0 to finish third of the table and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup. Smouha will be competing in the CAF Champions League for the first time ever next season, along with the competition's record holders Ahli.
