Egypt skipper Wael Gomaa prefers to face Ghana or Nigeria rather than Cape Verde in the World Cup qualifying playoff round. African minnows Cape Verde sprang a surprise when they beat Tunisia 2-0 in Rades to book an unlikely place in the playoffs after winning Group B on 12 points, just one ahead of the Eagles of Carthage. As Cape Verde could be potential opponents for Egypt, who already secured a berth in the playoffs, Gomaa prefers to play African powerhouses Ghana or Nigeria instead. "I would prefer to face Ghana or Nigeria instead of Cape Verde," Gomaa told a radio station. "It's because our players would be taking the game seriously against Nigeria or Ghana, but against Cape Verde, it won't be the same. "Another reason is that we have already been successful against Nigeria and Ghana as we have experienced playing them before in the African Cup of Nations unlike Cape Verde." Bob Bradley's Egypt face Guinea in a game to spare on Tuesday after being one of the first three African sides to guarantee a place in the final playoff round, which will see 10 teams play five two-legged matches.
