EGYPT on Friday observed the Orphan's Day, an event that is held on April 2 each year to promote sympathy and mercy to orphans and other children without parents, who are often ignored. Thousands of orphan boys and girls gathered in public parks from orphanages from all over Egypt to celebrate a day that was like a birthday for each one of them. They were, for the very few hours they spent at these events at least, the centre of attention. These events, held nationwide, were meant to draw smiles on their faces. They included a big reception, musical shows, a big lunch, and field trips to the landmarks of Egypt. Many Egyptians marked the Orphan's Day with visits to charity centres, where they presented toys and new clothes to these children.
