CAIRO - Egypt's Minister of International Cooperation and Planning Faayza Abul-Naga has said that Egypt and the US are maintaing discussions of the US aid to Egypt, the official Middle East News Agency reported on Monday. She added that till now the amount of the financial aid has not been determined yet. While participating in the joint annual meeting of the International Bank and International Monetary Fund in Washington, Abul Nagaa said she met the US Economic Affairs,Energy and Agriculture undersecretary of the Secretary of State to discuss the aid bundle which US President Obama announced last May. The meeting as she said was attended by a delegation of all US parties concerned. Abul Nagga hopes in the upcoming period to reach an agreement to the best interest of Egypt to help it pass through the bottle neck. Meanwhile,Abul Nagga has also said that foreign funds channelled to unregistered Egyptian NGOs raises a question mark. She added that money extend to organizations taking part in political activities in the past six months has exceeded funds paid in six years. Abul Nagaa said that she had requested a fact-finding committee to investigate such financing which she described as illegal and detrimental to national security. She pointed out that NGOs have to abide by the law that organises activities of civil societies. According to the minister the committee submitted a report two weeks ago including names of NGOs that received funds without informing the Egyptian government.
