The Cairo Criminal Court on Thursday released has a prominent businessman who had been accused of inciting violence against anti-Mubarak protesters, legal sources said on Thursday. Ibrahim Kamel, a senior member in the formerly ruling National Democratic Party (NDP), was released on an LE200,000 bail and if he could not pay it, his detention would remain in force, the sources said. Kamel was arrested on April 10 on charges of inciting thugs on February 2 to attack protesters in Tahrir Square, the site of demonstrations that ousted President Hosni Mubarak. In the same session, presiding judge Safwat Rushdi ordered the release of ex-NDP Cairo Secretary Mohamed el-Ghamrawi, who has been detained with Kamel in the same case, because of a lack of evidence against him, the sources said.
