CAIRO - The Cairo International Fair's 44th edition opens Thursday with the welcome mat laid out for more than 1,300 local, Arab and foreign companies, organisers of the event said Wednesday. Trade and Industry Minister Samir el-Sayyad is scheduled to open the fair, which is a unique annual opportunity for industrialists to present the richness of their works at the eight-day event that is held under the theme of "Egypt is Back to Life" Around 1,300 exhibitors are participating in the fair, which will run until April 23, with manufacturers from Thailand, China, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia taking part, the organisers said. The exhibitors remain optimistic that the Cairo International Fair will be a good opportunity to promote their products and clinch business deals with their Egyptian counterparts, Sherif Salem, the fair director, said. Salem said that many exhibitors are taking part in the fair, during which they will hold regular round-table meetings with their Egyptian colleagues to talk about the latest trends in industry and technology.
