AMMAN- Jordan's King Abdullah II on Sunday left Amman for Washington, where he is to participate in a six-way meeting ahead of direct peace talks between the Palestinians and Israel. Hours before her departure, Abdullah met with the Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak in Amman. According to the Jordanian royal court, "The discussions focused on means of ensuring the success of the direct talks between the Palestinians and Israel". The king will be attending US President Barack Obama's six- way meeting in Washington on Wednesday, a day before the Palestinian- Israeli talks are to be launched. In addition to Obama and Abdullah, the meeting will be attended by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the representative of the so-called Middle East quartet Tony Blair.
