CAIRO- The Muslim holy month of Ramadan starts in Egypt on Wednesday, the nation's top Islamic authority said Tuesday evening. Darul Ifta, which is responsible for passing Islamic edicts, added in a statement that the new moon of Ramadan was spotted. The statement was broadcast live on official radio and television. During Ramadan, Muslims have to abstain from eating, drinking and sex from dawn to dusk.
