CAIRO-11 people were killed Saturday in a collision between vehicles in Upper Egypt, according to police. Some 21 others were injured in the mishap, which involved two microbuses near the Upper Egyptian city of Minya. Drivers of the two vehicles were instantly killed in the accident, which initial investigations blamed on high speed, added police. Road crashes in Egypt are among the world's highest. They are mainly due to reckless driving, ill-kept vehicles and poor roads. Around 6,000 people are estimated to die in Egypt annually due to road accidents. Two years ago, the Government enforced a new traffic law with tougher penalities against traffic offenders.
