CAIRO, Sept 2 , 2018 - The Alexandria Customs Department cleared 8,736 private cars last month at a value of LE1.6 billion, collecting a total of LE814 million in customs duties, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance. The total amount of taxes and customs duties exemptions stood at LE410 million under the European, Turkish and Agadir partnership agreements, the statement said. The Alexandria Customs also cleared 891 trucks, microbuses, motorbikes and tractors last month, at a total value of LE396 million, while the total amount of taxes and customs duties collected stood at LE190 million. The total amount of exemptions amounted to LE26 million under the European, Turkish and Agadir partnership agreements. According to the statement, the value of cars and spare parts released in August was LE2.9 billion.
