CAIRO, June 26 (MENA) - Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will head on Wednesday for the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott to participate in the 33rd ordinary session of the African Union Executive Council on June 28-29. The session will be held in preparation for the 31st AU summit on July 1-2, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Tuesday. Ahmed Abu Zeid said Egypt's participation in the preparatory meetings and the African summit falls within the framework of its interest in African issues, especially as Egypt will chair the AU in January 2019. The meetings will focus on financial and institutional reform of the African Union as well as the progress achieved so far in the African Continental Free Trade Area. The talks will also deal with means of combatting corruption alongside the 2019-2021 AU budget.
