Initial figures show landslide victory for Sisi

Cairo, March 29 - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is expected to win a landslide election victory over his competitor, the head of the El-Ghad Party, Moussa Mustafa Moussa, according to early estimates of the vote-count, after the three-day election.
Vote counting started after polling stations closed on Wednesday. Initial figures showed that more than 23 million Egyptians voted in the presidential election. According to non-official figures 21,088,295 (90.53 per cent) voted for Sisi at, polling stations across Egypt, excluding several stations in Cairo and Giza; Moussa won 682,797 votes (2.93 per cent). There were 1,522,819 (6.54 per cent) invalid votes.
The official results will be announced on April 2.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi praised Egypt's voters on Twitter, five minutes after polling stations shut their doors on Wednesday, marking the end of the third and last day of voting in the first round of the presidential election.
"The voice of the Egyptians is, beyond any reasonable doubt, testament of our nation's determination to impose its will, strongly. The sight of Egyptians queueing up at polling stations makes me proud and bears silent witness to the greatness of our nation, whose sons have shed much blood for its future," Sisi tweeted.
According to the official results of the vote count in the 2018 presidential race released by the general election committee in Sheikh Zayed city in Giza governorate, President Sisi won 37,207 votes against 1,604 votes won by his rival Moussa Mustafa Moussa, the leader of the El-Ghad party. The number of valid votes cast there was 38,811 and the number of invalid ones was 5,435.
In Aswan governorate, Sisi received 254,940 votes against 9,563 votes for Moussa. Aswan has 974,972 eligible voters, and of the total votes cast in the three-day presidential polls that beganon Monday, 278,967 were valid and 15,605 were invalid.
In Sidi Gaber, Alexandria governorate, Sisi won 83,631 votes against 2,474 votes for his rival Moussa. The number of eligible voters who cast their ballots there stood at 95,486, with 86,112 valid votes registered. Alexandria governorate has more than 3.8 million eligible voters.
As many as 60 million people were eligible to vote in the election which was held under the supervision of 18,678 judges from the various judicial bodies and authorities, at 13,687 polling stations across the country.
For the duration of the election process, police and army troops secured the polling stations to ensure an orderly flow of voters, promote the efficiency of the voting services and keep everyone safe.
