Mo Salah rated as the best player in Europe
Published in The Egyptian Gazette on 08 - 03 - 2018

LIVERPOOL, March 8, 2018 - Mohamed Salah has been rated as the current best player in Europe.
The Egyptian winger has had a sensational season for Liverpool, scoring 32 goals in all competitions.
He was given a rare rest against Porto in midweek but will return to the starting line-up at Old Trafford on Saturday , reports the Liverpool Echo.
The boffins at CIES Football Observatory – a football thinktank based in Switzerland – have released their rankings for performances over the past month, placing the Egyptian top.
Calculated based on OPTA data, as well as according to the 'technical performance' achieved in domestic league matches in Europe's top five leagues, the Liverpool star leads the way with a score of 98.7.
But club team-mate Roberto Firmino is not far behind in third, while both Andy Robertson and Virgil van Dijk sit in the top 10.
That means four of Jurgen Klopp's side have been star performers over the past month – three of them recent arrivals in the transfer market.
It is Salah who gains top billing however, beating Cristiano Ronaldo, who sits in second.
The 25-year-old has seen him notch against Southampton, West Ham and Newcastle – while he also bagged in the Champions League against Porto, although that does not count towards the calculation.
His stunning debut campaign has led to CIES valuing him at 162.8million euros (£145.3million). The valuation, based on a unique algorithm drawn up by the Swiss number crunchers, sees him as the seventh most valuable player in Europe.
Liverpool signed the winger from Roma last summer for £36.9million, putting his current value at over four times what the club paid for him to bring him to Anfield.
