Egypt's Acting Health Minister reviews development plan for Nasser Institute Hospital
The minister stressed the hospital's importance to improve medical and treatment services in various disciplines

Acting Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar reviewed the executive statues of the development plan for the Nasser Institute for Research and Treatment Hospital during a meeting with the head of the advisory office of the Armed Forces' Engineering Authority.
In a statement on Monday, the health ministry said that the meeting came as part of a plan to develop Nasser Institute Hospital to become an integrated centre for providing services in all medical and research specialties in accordance with Egyptian and international standards.
The minister stressed the hospital's importance to improve medical and treatment services in various disciplines as well as creating a stimulating work environment for medical teams, stressing the continuation of providing all aspects of medical services to citizens in the hospital during the development period.
Abdel Ghaffar also listened to proposals for developing the hospital's existing buildings and constructing new ones, thereby increasing the capacity of its various departments.
The Department of Care, operations, central sterilisation, main pharmacy, dialysis unit, blood bank, and laboratory are being renovated as well, in addition to the creation of new specialised medical units that include a stroke unit, paediatric heart surgeries and congenital defects, delayed childbearing unit, obesity surgery unit, bone bank, a specialised unit for the treatment of maxillofacial deformities, high-precision radiotherapy service, endoscopic ultrasound service, and paediatric dialysis unit.
The development work also includes the construction of a building for outpatient clinics with a capacity of 60 clinics, according to Hossam Abdel Ghaffar — the Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population.
He pointed out that the outpatient building will include dialysis services with a capacity of 80 beds, a physical therapy department, a blood bank, an external pharmacy, a laboratory, a radiology department, and a dental unit.
Abdel Ghaffar added that the minister was also briefed during the meeting on a plan to activate medical tourism at the Hospital through the establishment of an airstrip for aerial ambulances, activating river ambulance services, and establishing a berth in front of the hospital's emergency entrance on the Nile.
