Required infrastructure for 2021 World Handball Championship to be ready next October: Sports Minister

Minister of Youth and Sports, Ashraf Sobhy, stressed that the required infrastructure for the 2021 World Men's Handball Championship, to be held in Egypt, will be ready next October.
Sobhy said in a Monday press conference held at the ministry that the plan of action for the tournament is going well and expected to be completed next June or July.
He pointed out that preparation for the championship started in 2018. About 98% of the construction of the indoor hall complex in the New Administrative Capital. Also, construction works are ongoing in the 6th Of October sports complex that contains a new 4,500-capacity indoor hall, a new headquarter for the African Handball Confederation, a hotel, and an academy. Moreover, a sports city is under development in Borg El Arab, of which 50% have been completed, and some renovations are being made to the main hall of the Cairo Stadium Indoor Halls Complex and the media centre to suit the big event.
The Minister noted that these development works are undertaken by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority.
Hesham Nasr, head of the Egyptian Handball Federation, said that the inspection committee of the International Handball Federation expressed its satisfaction with the construction situation of the new sports facilities in the New Administrative Capital and Cairo.
Hassan Mostafa, head of the International Handball Federation, said in a video conference that the report of the inspection committee on the construction situation has not been presented to the federation yet, but he read it, "was not positive."
Mostafa said he will form a new inspection committee to follow up on the new sports halls.
