Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry headed on Sunday to Vienna, Austria, as part of a foreign tour that includes Croatia, Lithuania, and Latvia, according to the ministry's spokesperson statement.
The tour intends to reach new international partners and promote bilateral cooperation and relations.
Shoukry is scheduled to give two lectures on Egypt's foreign policy at the Foreign Policy and United Nations Association of Austria (UNA-Austria), at the invitation of Wolfgang Schuessel, former federal chancellor of Austria.
The event will be attended by top Austrian officials from the Chancellery, the Foreign Ministry, the Austrian Parliament, and heads of international organisations in Vienna, the statement noted.
Afterwards, Shoukry will head to the capital of Croatia, Zagreb, to meet with President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković.
Moreover, Shoukry will hold political talks with his Croatian counterpart Gordan Grlić Radman to address regional and bilateral issues of common interest.
In Lithuania, Shoukry is planned to chair the Egyptian delegation in the Egypt-Lithuania joint commission with the participation of Egyptian ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Trade and Industry, Investment and International Cooperation, and Communications and Information Technology.
A cooperation agreement on agriculture is to be signed and the bilateral enhancement of cooperation in other fields will be discussed.
Meanwhile, Shoukry will meet with the Chancellor of the Government of Lithuania Algirdas Stončaitis, Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius, and Presidential Chief Adviser for Foreign Affairs, Asta Skaisgirytė, as well as members of the Foreign and European Affairs Committees of the Lithuanian Parliament.
Shoukry will conclude his tour in Latvia, where he is scheduled to meet with the President of Latvia Egils Levits, Speaker of Parliament Ināra Mūrniece, and Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs.
