21-year-old terrorist killed in shootout with security forces in Qaliubiya Al-Sayed is among those terrorists who espouse takfiri ideas and lead armed groups, says Interior Ministry
An alleged terrorist was killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in Abu Za'abal village, Qaliubiya governorate, according to an Interior Ministry statement on Thursday. Mostafa Al-Sayed, 21, was involved in attempts to assassinate officers working in the prison sector. He targeted one of the security checkpoints in the village. According to the statement, when Al-Sayed realised that security forces were approaching him, he initiated by firing towards them which led to a shootout resulting his death. The security forces found machine guns and a supply of bullets with the deceased. The ministry statement said that Al-Sayed had already been accused in other violent cases, adding that he was among those terrorists who espouse takfiri (Islamist insurgency) ideas and lead armed groups. The statement read: "This came within the framework of ministry efforts to prosecute the leaders and cadres of the terrorist groups targeting to carry out hostile operations in Egypt."
