The Ministry of Interior announced Tuesday the arrest of 14 individuals accused of planning various attacks on public and private properties across the country.
It also released a round-up of its successes in the preceding seven days.
The 14 individuals are described as "central leaders of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood", by the ministry. However, little information has been given about where the arrestees are from and which attacks they are accused of orchestrating.
Also on Tuesday, the Ministry of Interior released a round-up of its activities in the preceding week to enhance public safety. This campaign includes counter-violence operations to recover weapons. The ministry said a total of 954 weapons were seized across the country. Within that figure were 165 machine guns, mainly AK47s. Also recovered were 4,608 pieces of ammunition.
Some 1,873 individuals were arrested on charges related to drugs, while 1,681 large-blade knives were recovered.
Other reports included the arrest of 23,684 for thievery, 54 for abuse of public funds, and 913 on common decency charges, while 114,943 were charged with traffic violations. Ten escaped prisoners were also caught.
On Monday, the Ministry of Defence released a report covering the whole of September. The spokesperson said the armed forces apprehended 2,215 migrants and 1,067 weapons as part of military campaigns to secure Egypt's borders and target illegal smuggling activities.
The weaponry included rocket-propelled grenades and other explosives. The weapons were recovered in areas including Salloum, Siwa, Port Said, Matruh and Al-Bayouti in the Western Desert.
