Unknown gunmen attacked a checkpoint in Giza on Sunday at dawn, injuring three policemen, according to the Ministry of Interior. Two other attacks took place in Giza last week. On 6 January, a bomb was found in front of Al-Talbeya police station in Giza. A policeman, who attempting to defuse the device died when it exploded. A video of the incident went viral on social media networks. On 5 January, masked gunmen injured two other policemen in the Mohandessin district of Giza, the Ministry of Interior's press office said. On the same day, unknown assailants killed 2 policemen while they were on duty securing a church in Minya, south of Cairo, according to a representative from the Minya Directorate media office. Attacks on military and police personnel have been occurring regularly throughout Egypt since the ousting of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.
