Following the Ministry of Interior's arrest of 52 people for targeting Egypt's infrastructure, the Muslim Brotherhood said they are "all politicised cases against citizens opposed to the coup". "The junta continues its false propaganda to justify its atrocities against the [Muslim Brotherhood] and the Anti Coup Movement," said Abdulla El-Haddad from the Brotherhood's London Press Office in an email on Saturday. The Muslim Brotherhood is a non-violent group, he added. The Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday the arrest of eight "terrorist" cells involving 52 people in possession of weapons, high explosive materials and large sums of money. Ministry spokesman Hany Abdel Latif said the arrests come as a part of the ministry's efforts to thwart the Muslim Brotherhood "terrorist organisation's" plans targeting the infrastructure of Egypt. El-Haddad said, "the Muslim Brotherhood has always condemned all forms of violence and will continue to do so". He added, "as part of the Anti-coup Movement, we have been protesting peacefully for more than 16 months against the military dictatorship". Abdel Latif said the defendants' plans targeting state infrastructure include targeting electricity stations and lines, railways, public transportation and water infrastructure, and the planting of IEDs at gatherings. El-Haddad said, "these charges are all fabricated and there are no investigations." The defendants were arrested from Giza, Minya, Daqahleya, Alexandria, Fayoum, and Sharqeya governorates.
