Shourky to attend UN meetings on nuclear weapons eradication and the right to veto

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will be part of the Egyptian delegation which will be accompanying President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on 21 September in his visit to New York to participate in the 69th session of the UN General Assembly.
Shourky's agenda includes the high-level ministerial event about framing the use of veto power and a General Assembly's meeting for the total eradication of nuclear weapons.
Shoukry will participate in a panel discussion of the Security Council on Iraq, and in several ministerial meetings on the situation in Libya, as well as meeting with the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC), a 15-member committee that serves as the principal policy-level coordination mechanism for development assistance to the Palestinian people.
Shoukry will also be taking part in a ministerial meeting on the Middle East, the meeting of the Arab Peace Initiative, the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Arab League, and the ministerial meeting of the Friends of Yemen group.
The Egyptian foreign minister is also set to participate in the ministerial meetings of the African Union's Peace and Security Council, the Global Counterterrorism Forum, Deauville Partnership, and the G8, the group of eight leading industrialised countries.
Shourky's agenda in New York also includes the ministerial meetings of the Group of 77, an intergovernmental organisation of developing countries in the UN and China, of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and that of the Palestine Committee of the Non-Aligned Movement,
Shourky is to meet with head of the General Assembly John Ashe, High Commissioner for Human Rights Prince Zeid bin Ra'ad, the Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs Baroness Valerie Amos, and the Joint Special Envoy for Darfur.
He will attend a meeting of the neighbouring countries to Libya, and another one for the Group of 15, a summit level group of developing countries.
Shoukry will also meet a number of his counterparts, including the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Italy, and the foreign ministers of Cyprus, Greece, Algeria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Portugal, Slovakia, North Korea, Eritrea, South Sudan, India, Brazil, Albania, and Lithuania.
Shourky is also scheduled to participate in all the president's meetings and events, both at the bilateral and the multilateral meetings.
